On Saturday 15th October a UK-wide social enterprise event was held: Social Saturday. This is a day all about encouraging people to buy from social enterprises – businesses that put people and planet first. For more information about Social Saturday please visit the website.
Jericho Foundation was delighted to get involved and decided to use the day to bring attention to our eight social enterprises: print, catering, construction, landscape, cleaning, recycling, first aid training and our co-working offices, The Loft Workspace. We also provided information on our array of valuable apprenticeships. For more details please visit our website.
At The ReUsers Centre in Sutton we had a promotion of 50% off marked prices on all outdoor and leisure equipment which resulted in a huge sale of tables and chairs.
Helen Worrall, Senior Social Enterprise Manager said: “We were keen to support Social Saturday and delighted by the turnout at our ReUsers store. Shoppers seemed to relish our delicious free cupcakes, while purchasing our rescued and restored bargains. We were able to communicate widely about the vast range of activities Jericho is involved in, and also made more excellent contacts in the local community”.
Furthermore, Jericho is pleased to announce that their Christmas Emporium will reopen on Tuesday 1st November this year! For the fourth year in a row, the yuletide store (on the second floor of The ReUsers) will sell a huge range of recycled Christmas decorations, ornaments, gifts and trees. Once again, there will also be a selection of handmade festive gifts which have been crafted at the Jericho Wood Shack by the staff, volunteers and apprentices.
