Catering Apprentice – Nechells

JOB TITLE:                                           Catering Apprentice

Based at:                    West Midlands Fire Service, 99 Vauxhall Road, Nechells, B7 4HW

Working hours:         30 hours per week (Mon-Sun)

Salary:                        £99 per week

About the Role

We are looking for an apprentice to join our Catering social enterprise. You will work with our friendly catering staff team for 12 months at the West Midlands Fire Service Headquarters.

Job Description
Daily duties will include:

  • Preparation of hot and cold food.
  • Serving customers of the centre, including table service.
  • Preparing and delivering off site buffets and school meals.
  • Cleaning, washing and tidying up.
  • Operating a till.
  • Any other duties requested by the Catering Supervisor.
  • Attending all NVQ sessions and maintaining folder work.

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will:

  • Be able to complete 30 hours per week.
  • Be committed to 12 months employment.
  • Be able to work well in a team and get along with colleagues.
  • Be able to follow instructions.
  • Be flexible as you may be required to work at a different location.
  • Be willing to work on a rota that includes weekend and bank holiday work.
  • Be able to achieve Level 1 Maths and English after 12 months.
  • Be committed to achieving the NVQ.

No previous work experience is required and full training will be given.

Apprenticeship Information
During the apprenticeship you will work with a Jericho partner college to complete:

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship in Hospitality and Food Services
  • Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths & English, if required.

Support Available
Throughout the apprenticeship you will be supported by the catering staff team. You will also work with a Client Support Officer who you will meet regularly to discuss any issues or concerns you may have.
