The Jericho Foundation Christmas Appeal 2016

This year’s Jericho Christmas Appeal is in aid of the survivors of human trafficking.

Human trafficking is an enormous problem in Britain today – it is estimated that there were 13,000 victims of modern slavery in the UK in 2015.

Jericho is the only organisation in the UK with the expertise and resources to deliver a complete programme of work experience, training and tailored support to victims of modern slavery.

Imagine you have fallen on hard times and you are enticed away from your family, friends and homeland by the promise of a job.

When you arrive in a foreign country you find there is no paid work. Instead you are made to do forced labour for no money. You are exploited, not given enough food and made to live in squalor.

That was how life was for M, one of Jericho’s beneficiaries. At 58 years of age, a father and grandfather, M found himself in a horrendous situation, miles from home, with no support and unable to speak the language.

Eventually M moved into a safe house and then started volunteering with Jericho. With support, training and work experience, M has become a paid employee of our Cleaning Social Enterprise. He is contented, has somewhere to live and is enjoying learning English.

You can make a real difference in the lives of survivors of human trafficking, today.
