Social Investment Tax Relief

The Jericho Foundation is a Birmingham based registered charity which was set up in 1993 to seek out, engage with, and support local people who are at the margins of society and who are experiencing significant personal and occupational barriers to employment.

These people include the long-term unemployed, people with low self-esteem, lack of confidence or criminal record and also Survivors of Modern Slavery.

At Jericho, we deliver supported employment, work experience and Apprenticeship Programmes within our Social Enterprise businesses. These businesses trade in the commercial market place offering high quality, value for money goods and services to a broad range of customers in the private, public and third sector. However they also provide an environment in which disadvantaged people can gain paid work experience, qualifications and employability skills combined with a holistic package of personal development support.

Our Social Enterprise trading delivers the vast majority of the income that the charity requires (85% of our £3.2M turnover for the year ending March 2016), but to support this, we have an ongoing need for Working Capital to sustain existing operations and Growth Capital to invest in new social ventures.

Individual investors who choose to support our charity by lending to us can enjoy significant tax relief benefits plus interest via the HMRC Social Investment Tax Relief (SITR) scheme, sure in the knowledge that they will be helping marginalised people gain skills and receive the support they need.

If you are interested in offering Jericho a loan under the SITR scheme, then please download our Expression of Interest form here, email the completed form to Nick Wallace and we will contact you to discuss your application further.
