About JERICHO
JERICHO is a charity and family of seven social enterprises that provide supported work opportunities for people facing challenges in getting a job. These challenges could include trauma, insufficient work experience, health and wellbeing needs, education barriers and communication difficulties. Currently we primarily support survivors of modern slavery and young people.

What’s the job?
The driver is part of the Collections Team going out onto building and manufacturing sites to collect waste timber.
The driver will work with the Management team and closely with another driver on a daily basis to attend sites and assist with the manual loading and unloading of the vans. They will be working on a range of sites, including HS2 sites, so they must adhere to strict health and safety procedures at all times. There will also be deliveries to be completed.
You will be working on all elements of the job, including on and off-site operations, vehicle logistics, apprentice supervision, business development and all associated documentation and administration.
You will be working 1:1 with Apprentices and other participants on supported programmes, being a supportive role-model to them and providing on-the-job Banksman training. You must be a supportive team-player who is adaptable and willing to problem solve and see and encourage the potential in all of our participants.
This is a manual job that requires working in all weathers. You must be able to climb onto the back of vans and safely lift pallets and full plywood sheets.

£24,004 per year
37.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri)
28 days of paid holiday (including bank hols)
Based at The Wood Shack
Main duties and responsibilities
Operations
Drive a 3.5t caged tipper across the West Midlands to fulfil collection needs
Call ahead to site managers and customers in advance of deliveries to finalise arrangements
Manually load waste timber into the van safely, working safely and supervising Banksman
Ensure paperwork is correctly completed by site managers and book in future collections if required.
Ensure that sites are called in advance
Working closely with Management and other drivers to plan out logistics and problem solve
Report any issues with the van to management asap. Arrange and ensure routine van maintenance takes place following consultation with Management
Keep the van clean and tidy; reporting any issues to Management
Adhere strictly to all site safety rules and wear required PPE
Participant Supervision
Provide Banksman training to our Apprentices and other participants
Be a supportive role-model to all of our participants; always demonstrating honesty and integrity and a strong work ethic
Other activities:
Complete mandatory training, which includes Health and Safety, First Aid, and Banksman
Completion of any other required training.
Gather names of new sites by driving around feeding them back to management
Any other reasonable duties the Manager asks of you
Who are we looking for?
Essential
Full driving licence to enable you to drive 3.5T van
Must have been driving for a minimum of 3 years and have no more than 3 points on your licence
Must have a CSCS card
Must be able to get a satisfactory DBS (this is paid for by JERICHO)
Able to lift up to 25KG items, including larger items such as plywood and long lengths
Able to achieve a satisfactory ‘safety critical medical’ (paid for by JERICHO)
Able to interact with customers in a professional and respectable manner
Knowledge and practice of Health and Safety policy and procedures
An understanding of the need for co-operation and responsibility within a small team
Desirable
Experience of working with people with a wide variety of backgrounds who need additional support. Fostering a belief in empowerment through inclusion, skill learning and collective responsibility
A basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance
