Trustee Vacancy

Who are we?

JERICHO is an award winning Birmingham charity and family of seven social enterprises that provide supported work opportunities for people facing extreme challenges in getting a job. We primarily support marginalised young people and survivors of modern slavery.

There is more to JERICHO than just work. What makes us different is our combination of vital support and activities. These reduce isolation, support recovery and promote inclusion to transform lives and help people become more employable.

About the role

We are looking to expand and refresh our Board of Trustees, ensuring our Board has the right mix of skills to manage JERICHO effectively.

We welcome applications from all sections of our community and you do not need to have been a Trustee before to apply. If you are a first-time Trustee that’s no problem at all, we will be able to help and support you in your new role.

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed people to join us and would love to hear from you if you want to help us deliver our mission to provide supported work opportunities for those who face extreme challenges in getting a job.

We are keen to recruit people who share our Christian values and ethos and are willing to share skills, experience and expertise to help us create a fairer world.

Communicating well, working as part of a team, making effective decisions, managing risk and thinking strategically are key skills that we are looking for in our Trustees.

To fill current gaps in the team we would very much like to recruit people onto our Board with legal or accounting skills. We are also very keen to improve representation of women and People of the Global Majority on the board.

This is a voluntary post, although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

As a Trustee, you will be required to attend our meetings, held every two months for two hours, at our Balsall Heath office.

Demonstrable ability to exercise independent judgement, balancing competing views and approaches and contributing actively to decision making

  • Innovation:
Proven ability to contribute new ideas and perspectives to a discussion and to think creatively around a problem

The ability to recognise risks which might affect JERICHO (financial, reputational operational etc.), and to manage those risks in accordance with the agreed risk appetite of the organisation
